- Preparation (Both Machines):
- 1. Turn off the machine and unplug it for safety.
- 2. Ensure the ink system is completely drained and the anilox roller is stationary.
- 3. Prepare necessary cleaning agents (solvent or water-based, depending on ink type), clean cloths, gloves, and replacement doctor blades.
- Remove the Old Doctor Blade:
- 1. Locate the doctor blade assembly (typically positioned next to the anilox roller).
- 2. Loosen the screws or fasteners holding the doctor blade in place and carefully remove it from the mounting system.
- 3. Dispose of the used blade properly.

- Clean the Blade Area:
- Use a suitable cleaning solvent or cloth to clean the area where the doctor blade sits, removing any residual ink, dried ink, or debris from the doctor blade chamber and anilox roller.
- Install the New Doctor Blade:
- 1. Position the new doctor blade into the holder or chamber, ensuring it is aligned correctly and securely without any gaps.
- 2. Tighten the screws or fasteners to hold the blade in place, but avoid over-tightening to prevent damage.

- Check Alignment and Pressure:
- 1. For stack-type flexo printing machines: Manually rotate the anilox roller and check that the blade is in proper contact with it. Adjust if necessary for even pressure.
- 2. For CI flexo printing machines: Carefully adjust the pressure to ensure consistent ink application, avoiding over-inking or under-inking.
- Final Inspection and Testing:
- 1. Run the machine at low speed for a test print. Ensure that ink is being applied evenly without excessive streaks or voids.
- 2. Monitor the print quality to ensure proper ink application, especially on CI machines with their more complex ink metering systems.
By following these steps, you can maintain both stack-type and CI flexo printing machines efficiently, ensuring extended machine life and consistent print quality.
